Title: Wind turbine control below nominal turbine speed

Abstract:
Active working regions of wind turbine are determined by average wind speed values.
Limitations are consisted of physical limits of electrical subsystem and the stability of wind
turbine structure. Regulation in low wind speed region is concetrated on maximum efficiency tracking, due to the fact that the power contained in the wind is to low for wind turbine to produce its rated power, therefor, the rotor speed control is based on look- up table model, and PI controller model. Due to the interaction with electrical grid, wind turbine generated electrical power should be as little oscillatory, and tower oscillations should be as damped as posible. Analysis of process regulation in this paper has a few remarking assumes, that present a simplification of real time wind turbine model. Several wind turbine model simplifications were used for analysis of process regulation in this paper. Wind speed is assumed to be constant over the wind turbine rotor area. But that fact is not correct for real environment. It would be more precise to use a 3D wind model. Closed loop control of wind turbine rotor speed, is based on look- up table with modifications on edges of working area with PI controller. Achieved results are very solid. Parameters of PI controller are calculated using frequency domain analysis and synthesis, and later on optimizated with a goal to achieve maximum efficiency.
